COLORED PENCIL WORKS
NOTABLE WORKS
PORTRAIT OF GINA GERSHON
(BOUND)
February 6, 2022
This work both uses one of the lowest-fidelity images I've used as reference (and therefore the greatest amount of added detail) and depicts another style inspiration for me as I adjusted to living as a gay woman, and is the first realism portrait to be signed as Eve.
PORTRAIT OF SARAH PERRY
(KERO KERO BONITO)
October 25, 2020
This is a notable piece in terms of refining my process, I made sure to focus greatly on replicating the image's original values and fabricating details the original image lacked, such as adding hairs and pores. This piece is also larger than most which added a greater challenge when applying the greater level of detail I have grown accustomed to in more recent works. It is also special to me because I took great inspiration from Sarah Perry in defining a style for myself before starting my transition.
PORTRAIT OF MARK FISCHBACH
December 15, 2019
Mark defined my early teenage years & so I wanted to do him justice by waiting until my process had improved to draw him. This is a time in my work wherein I chose to use a lot of reference images with more extreme lighting to help the final product look more lifelike on paper. I later learned that focusing greatly on value produces a similar effect.
PORTRAIT OF TASHI RODRIGUEZ
October 14, 2018
This was one of the first pieces that felt lifelike to me as I stepped back, and inspired me greatly, showing me the potential I had to improve. I also met a very dear online friend through this portrait as we had drawn the same model.
PORTRAIT OF LORDE
Mar 29, 2018
Looking back on it I am a little disappointed with the face in this portrait, but the goal of it was to work with the interesting texture and shine of the coat, which is a shiny plastic with a pigment mixed through it, and I think I captured it quite well.
PORTRAIT OF CAMIÂ MORRONE
April 27, 2017
The thirteenth realism drawing since starting The Artist Inside, made to highlight the improvement I had made over time. I remember bringing my sketch pad to high school to work on this one between classes.
PORTRAIT OF LANA DEL REY
May 21, 2017
Another older & larger portrait, this one was the first wherein I used mineral spirits to aid in blending out the pigments in the wax. This is now very commonly seen in my works, especially in representing undertones and burnishing areas of darker pigment.
PORTRAIT OF MICHELLE MISHKIN
December 26, 2017
This is an earlier large work where I wanted to challenge myself with the sequins. It is now clearly dated but it took approximately 22 hours of work at the time and sought out to understand colored lighting better.
